AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN THE ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION : AN IMPOSSIBLE EQUATION ?

Conference/debate by the Scientific Council of Grenoble European Green Capital 2022.

This debate is a continuation of the international conference organised by the Pacte laboratory as part of the European research programme RE-DWELL MSCA-ITN (https://www.re-dwell.eu), which will bring together some fifty European researchers in Grenoble. Taking advantage of the opportunity of this presence, it will allow for an exchange of experiences in the creation of affordable housing that responds at the same time to the challenges of the ecological transition: what contradictions and what convergences between these two major issues for the creation of tomorrow's housing ? What means of action do European cities and committed actors have for the housing of tomorrow ?

To open the debate, local housing actors and international researchers will be invited to share, through short interventions, theoretical "good practices" in the light of daily practices. Then, a series of cross-cutting questions will allow these experiences to be crossed and to open up perspectives for comparing contexts, policies and coalitions of actors committed to housing. Representatives of local authorities (Grenoble-Alpes Métropole, the City of Grenoble, other cities in the agglomeration, the Department of Isère), the Grenoble region urban planning agency (AURG), the association of social landlords of Isère (Absise), the Federation of Solidarity Actors (FAS) and the association Un Toit pour tous (UTPT) will be invited to join the discussion with the researchers.
