RENOVATION OF THE DEPARTMENTAL HEADQUARTERS, AIM : HUGE ENERGY SAVINGS

The Department of Isère is renovating its headquarters, the Hôtel du Département. This is a huge project for this 1970s building, in which more than 370 departmental employees work, and is a first for a public authority building located in the heart of Grenoble !

This renovation, primarily involving thermal renovation thanks to insulation which will literally envelop the buildings from floor to roof, aims to almost half energy consumption (45% to be exact)! Needless to say, this is a major challenge given that the building represents one hectare of heated surface area. Completion of the project is scheduled for 2023 for a total of €12 million (including €2.5 million in State funding under the plan for the relaunching of the economy).

Since 2017, the Department has sought through its Air Climate Energy Strategy to significantly reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of its 70 or so departmental buildings spread throughout Isère (mostly middle schools). Significant result : a 4% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since its launch. And this is just the start !
